National 4/5 Geography Fieldtrip
On Monday 20th June, the National 4/5 Geography class conducted their annual river study along the River Don, as part of their River Landscapes topic and to give them a taster of fieldwork and investigations. The pupils were investigating how river characteristics change from the upper and middle course of the river. They started at the source of a tributary of the River Don up at the Lecht Ski Centre and then compared sections of the middle course of the Don. The fieldwork involved taking measurements of river depth and width, wetted perimeter, velocity, gradient, sediment analysis as well as making field observations and drawing annotated field sketches. Thank you to Miss Shepherd and Mr Graham for accompanying Mrs Niven and the class.
