S3 Geography
On Tuesday, S3 Geography students were lucky to have a visit from Ingrid Huldal, senior portfolio manager of oil and gas company, Expro. The S3 pupils have been learning about renewable energy as part of the unit on natural resource use. One area they did not look at in too much detail was geothermal energy. Ingrid and Expro have invested time and expertise in developing geothermal energy as they believe it can play a major role in contributing to global energy security while also tackling the problem of climate change and carbon emissions. The pupils gained valuable insight into how geothermal energy works and how it has been adapted over time to allow it to be accessible anywhere in the world and not just in areas of volcanic activity or along plate boundaries.
