Important Notice – School Closure Monday 29 November

Alford Community Campus will be closed on Monday 29 November due to ongoing local issues following Storm Arwen. This will apply to Alford Nursery, Primary and Academy. The building is closed to all pupils and staff (apart from janitorial and facilities management staff who should report to work as normal). Due to power outage and telecommunications issues locally please help us share this message to those affected in the community.

U15s Off to a Flyer

The U15 Footballers travelled to Banchory on Thursday 25th in the Preliminary Round of the Scottish Shield. The game started very evenly with both teams struggling in the heavy underfoot conditions but after 12 minutes, Alford took the lead. S3 Career Expo – November 2021

On Tuesday 23rd November, all S3 pupils took part in a virtual Career Expo, which was organised in partnership with The Wood Foundation. Pupils from Alford, Banff, Portlethen and Kemnay Academies interviewed national, regional and local employers across 12 different sectors to help share information which would be beneficial to young people who may wish to enter that career. Minecraft Club – a Saturday club for 9-14 year olds

Places are currently available on CodeCraft, a Saturday coding club at North East Scotland College’s Aberdeen City Campus for children aged 9 – 14. Participants will have the opportunity to learn some coding in a variety of fun and collaborative ways. S1 and S2 Social Subjects

S1 and S2 Social Subjects

Recently, S1 have been working hard at home for their Social Subjects lessons.  They have been learning about early settlers in Scotland from the Palaeolithic to the Neolithic and were asked to use their knowledge of stone age shelters to create their own.  Some chose to build them out of natural materials and many designed their shelters using Minecraft.  An example of some of these are on display in the Humanities Department, but here are some photographs as a taster….

Crisp Packet Project

The Prince’s Trust group are currently leading their Community Project unit. They are trying to collect crisp packets to make into sleeping bags for the homeless.  The foil on the inside of the crisp packets can be used to create insulated sleeping bag liners. All you need to do is put your empty crisp packets into the specific bins set up around school. These bins will be pointed out to you by posters on them.  We will clean, dry and…
