Joinery Apprenticeship at CHAP Group

CHAP Group are looking to recruit a new Apprentice Joiner, to commence a 4 year Modern Apprenticeship (MA) late summer 2020.  This apprenticeship offers the opportunity of hands on vocational work experience and training, side-by-side with block release college attendance.

At minimum, applicants will need to demonstrate they have a good aptitude for hands-on practical work and also good basic numeracy skills.

Applicants will be required to submit an up-to-date CV along with a brief cover letter explaining why they are interested in doing a joinery apprenticeship and why they think they would be a good candidate.

Please note the closing date for applications is the 31st March 2020.

S3 into S4 Course Choice form

S3 pupils now have their S4 course choice forms for session 2020-2021.

Following feedback from parents who attended the course choice evening in December, the above information evening will be repeated at Alford Academy.

You are invited to a Parents’ Information Evening on Tuesday 11 February at 5:30pm in the Academy. During this evening, there will be presentations on the planned S4-S6 curriculum, local job market intelligence, employability skills, flexible career pathways in Foundation and Modern Apprenticeships and Work Placement Apprenticeships and one-day-a-week College courses in partnership with Nescol.

Information from North East Scotland College, The Robert Gordon University, Skills Development Scotland and SRUC will be given to highlight flexible routes into employment and to help you to support your child to get “on the right route to the right job, through the right course via the right information”.

Members of the Senior Leadership Team will attend and will be available for questions at the end of the evening. The Information Evening is likely to finish at 6:15pm.

This evening is open to all parents of S3, S4 and S5 pupils.

The course choice forms for S3, S5 and S6 pupils will be distributed to pupils very soon.

Big Parents Eve event

January 30, 2020 5.30pm – 8pm

An opportunity for parents, carers, influencers and young people to

  • find out more about the different sectors and jobs in the region
  • explore how these are changing in the future
  • looking at the key skills young people will need for these new roles
  • speak to young people currently participating in foundation, modern and gradate apprenticeships in different organisations
  • find out about the different pathways into employment
  • ask questions and network with a wide range of organisations

The evening will start with a networking session over an evening buffet with a wide range of stand holders who will include:

  • Developing Young Workforce North East
  • Aberdeen City Council Education Team
  • Aberdeenshire Council Education Team
  • Skills Development Scotland
  • North East Scotland College
  • University of Aberdeen
  • Robert Gordon University

The Course Choice Consultation forms are live and can be accessed via the link below for your child’s correct stage.

S5 into S6

Pupils can complete the consultation forms at home in discussion with parents / carers but they will also have the opportunity to complete their course choice consultation in school.

Please complete the relevant form above by Wednesday 18th December.

A reminder that parents and carers are invited to the S3 – S5 Parents Course Choice and future Pathways information evening on Thursday 12th December, 6pm – 6:45pm. Please see more information regarding this on the blog post dated 3rd December 2019.
