Senior Boys Scottish Cup

The senior boys can hold their heads up high after a fantastic display against Millburn Academy in the Scottish Cup, played out in front of a passionate home support.

In a hard-fought and entertaining game the boys lost out narrowly 2-1. The teams played out an even and thrilling first half with the scores remaining 0-0. In the second half Millburn got a lucky break in front of goal to make it 1-0. Alford pressed the game and were unfortunate to find themselves 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go.

The fantastic team spirit was evident as the Alford lads pulled a goal back with 10 minutes to go.

After a surging run, Mark Reid was pulled down 25 yards from goal. Free-kick expert Tom Riach hit a blistering strike which had the keeper in trouble. Rowan Currie was quickest to react, calmly slotting the ball into the far right corner with a smart finish from 10 yards. The Alford lads then pressed for an equaliser, but were not able to get the goal they were after.

A huge credit to the boys for their spirit, determination and conduct in a tough but fair game.
