Daily Bulletin – Monday 24 February

Senior Boys Football Team:  We have an away league fixture against Mintlaw on Wednesday 4th March. Please pick up a consent form from Mrs Rae’s room (D1-44) if you are interested in playing.  We also have 3 home fixtures in the following weeks of March vs Mearns, Ellon and Fraserburgh.

RGC & Albyn Cross-Country Championships: This event takes place on Friday 13 March at Balgownie playing fields in Aberdeen.  We have some pupils who have already signed up for the championship but we need more so that we can enter teams for each year group.If interested please sign up before Wed 26 Feb as all entries need to be registered by Fri 28 Feb.

 

Daily Bulletin – Tuesday 21 March

Albyn & RGC Invitational Cross-Country Championships: Alford Academy had 40 runners at this year’s annual event which was held at Balgownie Playing Fields in Aberdeen on Friday 17th March 17.  All pupils performed to a very high standard and they must be congratulated on their commitment and effort.  Congratulations to all who took part and represented the school.

WWF Earth Hour:  Celebrate WWF Earth Hour on Saturday 25 March at 8.30p, by switching off the lights for an hour to raise awareness of climate change.  We will be switching off the lights in school during periods 5 this Friday.

Comic Relief:  Red noses will be on sale every day this week for £1 each.  For S1-S3 there will be a red nose and spoon race on Friday 24th to win house points.  Entry is 50p.

Charity Quiz night!!! The Alford Community Campus Interact club are hosting a quiz night on Wednesday the 29th March, 7-9pm in the theatre.  £5 per person (teams up to 6 people).  To book tickets email Jenni Rees-Jenkins: iaareesjenkinsj@alfordacademy.aberdeenshire.sch.uk.

S5:  All S5 students interested in participating in a Psychology study about differences in opinion on meal pricing are welcome to take part at 1.30pm today in D0-65 (Mrs Munro’s classroom).  Consent forms can be collected at the study and will need to be returned next week.  At least 16 participants are required.

Albyn/RGC Cross Country Championships:  Can all runners please hand in their consent form and £5 for the bus to the PE Dept ASAP.

Silver Duke of Edinburgh Training:  The third after school training session for Silver participants will take place from 3-5pm this Thursday 9th March in  C1-31 (Mr Scott’s classroom).  All must attend.

For those of you taking part in the psychology sleep and diet questionnaire, please come along to the PSE rooms today, Friday 3rd Feb, during lunch time.  Please bring your consent form along with you if not already handed in.

Rubik’s Cube Competition – There will be an interhouse Rubik’s Cube solving competition on Friday 17th March at lunchtime at the pupil entrance.  All competitors must be able to solve a Rubik’s cube as there will be a head to head competition.  Please sign up on sheets outside the PSE classrooms.

RGC & Albyn Invitational Cross – Country Championships Fri 17th March 17:  Due to the huge interest in competing for this event we will be holding our own “run-offs” to select the top 6 runners for each year group. These run-offs will be held as follows.

Tuesday 7th Feb: S1 & S2 Boys and Girls

Wednesday 8th Feb: S3 Boys & Girls

These run offs will take place at the beginning of Lunchtime. All runners should report to the PE changing rooms at 1.10pm. The distance will be 2 laps of the Campus. You may need a packed lunch or pre-order food for the day you are competing.

Exploring opportunities in Law: Wednesday 22 March 2017 11am-3pm.  The Aberdeen Law Project and Burness Paull Solicitors would like to invite S4 and S5 pupils to their upcoming exploring opportunities in Law event. Learn about studying Law at university, career options in law and the various areas of legal specialities. Gain an insight into what it is like to practise law with a tour of Burness Paull. If you are interested in attending please see your guidance teacher.

Prefects/Senior Prefects:  Could all prefects and senior prefects available to help out at the S5/6 Parents Evening on Thursday 2nd March please write their name on the sheet on the notice board next to the SLT offices.  Help would be appreciated any time from 5.00-7.30pm.

Albyn/RGC Cross-Country Championships Fri 17 March 17:  Can all pupils who have been successful in being selected for this event, please collect a letter and consent form from Mr Cruickshank ASAP.                                                                                        

S4/5 – MVP:  Thank you to all pupils who applied to become MVP Mentors. The list of successful pupils is up on the MVP notice board across from D0-69. Training will start this week with more details to follow.
