Senior Boys Football: There will be training this week on both Tuesday lunchtime and Friday after school on the Astro (3pm – 4:30pm). Attendance is vital ahead of our first cup tie.
Silver DofE Qualifying Expedition: All Silver participants MUST return parental consent forms to Mrs McDonald by Thursday lunchtime this week. Failure to do so means you will not be able to participate in the expedition this weekend.
Folk Group: All string players are reminded that our Folk Group (formerly known as String Ensemble) resumes today. All new S1 string players are asked to attend. Rehearsal starts at 1.30pm in A1-09. Any additional players – guitar, ukulele, flute etc. are very welcome to come along.
Musical Theatre Group starts after school today in A1-09. New members will be warmly welcomed. Please collect a consent form from Mr Trueman or Miss Vickers is you wish to attend.
Scripture Union starts up tomorrow in A1-08 at 1.30pm. All pupils are welcome to come along to find out a bit more about Scripture Union. If you were on a SU camp during the summer holidays, come along and share your stories.

Prefect Meeting: There is a meeting for all Prefects at 13.30pm this lunchtime in D068& D069. Attendance is essential as important training will take place. See you there.
Pipe Band: Could all Pipe Band members please ensure that you have your instruments with you tomorrow for the Awards Ceremony and be dressed in full school uniform. Report to the Music Research area after registering with your Period 1 teacher.
Concert Band: Could all members of the Concert Band please remember to bring your instruments with you on Wednesday and not Thursday for the Awards Ceremony.

Lockers: With the end of term nearly with us, all pupil lockers must be emptied and left clean by the end of Lunchtime, this Friday. Please reset your locker to a random code and leave your locker empty and locked. Your assistance with this will make it quicker and easier to service the lockers ready for next session. If your locker is not left clean and empty by this time, you may lose the option of having a locker next session. Lockers will be available again from the start of next term to those completing a locker request form.
Bronze Duke of Edinburgh: A reminder to pupils that they must hand in their consent forms as soon as possible or they will not be allowed to come on the Bronze expedition after the summer. If you have lost your form come to C1-34 today or tomorrow for a new one.
All pupils: Alford Academy is holding a Race for Life Walk to raise money for Cancer Research, on Wednesday 28 June 2017 between the end of morning break and the start of lunchtime. The route for the walk is approximately 5K/3 miles through the campus grounds and the adjacent playing fields so all pupils must wear suitable footwear for walking. In the event of bad weather, the event will be rescheduled to Friday 30 June. Donations for Cancer Research UK will be collected on the day of the event – the minimum recommended donation is £1. Every penny donated helps to fight cancer.

Art & Design: Students who have elected not to take Art & Design this year please come to the art department to collect your artwork. If work is not picked up by Wednesday 21st it will be disposed of to clear space for this year’s artists and designers. Thank you.
Ceramics Club: For those students who did not get a chance to finish their ceramic project Mr Duncan will be holding a lunchtime club on Tuesdays and Thursdays in E1-60 to allow students to complete and paint their work. 2nd 3rd and 4th years are welcome.
Hockey Club: Hockey is on today (15 June) from 3 – 4.30pm. We will be outside so bring appropriate clothing.
Duke of Edinburgh Silver Expedition Training: The final Expedition training session for all Silver participants will take place Thursday June 8th from 3pm to 5pm in Room C1-31. All participants must attend.
S3 Pupils: The Smallpiece Trust is offering 5 FREE places for female S3 students on Marine Technology Engineering residential course at The University of Strathclyde from 24 July – 27 July 2017. Please see your guidance teacher for more details.

Exams and Displacements: Please note SQA exams start on Tuesday 2 May. Pupils must be very quiet when moving between classes. Many exams take place over break and lunchtime and some even beyond the end of the school day so each day pupils must look out for the SQA signs, check the plasma screens and listen carefully to the daily bulletin and avoid any areas of the building where exams are being held. This includes outside areas when exams taking place over break and lunchtime as noise carries particularly if the weather is warm and windows are open.
Study Areas: Pupils may study in the Dining Area, Library, the tables outside SLT offices and any research areas away from exam rooms.
Missing property from music: A pencil case belonging to a Music Instructor which contained items of specialist equipment was removed from a Practice Room on Tuesday. The pencil case was last seen on a table near the “purple” stairs. Until such time as the pencil case has been returned or the contents replaced, the Music Department Practice Rooms will not be available to pupils at lunchtimes or morning interval. Any further information received about the missing pencil case will be treated in confidence. All pupils are reminded that permission must be sought before a Practice Room or equipment can be used at any time and any misuse will result in this privilege being withdrawn.
Bronze Duke of Edinburgh: There will be a kit check on Tuesday 2nd May for Group 5, The Adventurers and Special Eight who are going out on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th May. Speak to your supervisor about where you are meeting and where you can leave your rucksacks during the day. More information can be found on the DofE noticeboard. All group members must attend.

Astro Pitch: With the better weather with us it is good to see that the Astro Pitch is being regularly used at lunchtime. However it is extremely disappointing to see how much mess is being left on the pitch. It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure that the pitch is left tidy at the end of lunchtime. If this situation doesn’t improve then the pitch will be locked.
If anyone has information on who are responsible for the dropped litter please inform the PE dept – this will be dealt with confidentially.

Rubix Interhouse Competition – new dates: The interhouse competition will now run at lunchtime (1.20pm) on Tuesday 21st Feb at the pupil entrance. All entrants must be able to solve the rubix cube. There will be a fastest time challenge, and a speed battle. Sign up sheets can be found on the PSE room doors.
