Scotland Vs Iceland Trip: Could all those who attended the Scotland Vs Iceland football trip a couple of weeks ago please attend a short meeting at 1.45pm on Friday in the Games Hall. Due to the large numbers who attended this trip, we are able to give everyone £10 back. You must come along to this short meeting to collect this.

Dee and Don Ceilidh Collective:  World class musicians Paul Anderson and Shona Donaldson will be giving a presentation in A1-08 at 1.30pm this Friday to promote music workshops that will take place next weekend in Glenbuchat Hall.  These workshops are open to all pupils and will be of particular interest to singers and songwriters, fiddle players, guitarists, pipers, flautists and whistle players.  This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from the very best traditional musicians and could be a life changing experience for performers of all standards and abilities.  Please see Mr Trueman asap if you can come to the presentation on Friday.  Further information is on the music noticeboard.

Fringe Festival: Please could any outstanding Fringe Festival slips be returned to Mrs McQuaker in the Drama Studio at break time today.

We are unable to book tickets until all forms have been returned and shows are already selling out.

Duke of Edinburgh Award:  All 10 boys going on the qualifying expeditions on 2 and 3 September must meet in B1-22 today at 10.20am.  Important information will be discussed.

Digital Leaders:   A new opportunity is available for any S1-6 Pupil wishing to take on a leadership and responsibility role within the school.  Aberdeenshire has a program called Digital Leaders for all pupils wishing to play an active part in looking after the school’s technology and digital technology. Entering into the digital leader programme will count towards your digital leader certificates. If you wish to become a digital leader, please attend a meeting in C1-29 on Wednesday 22 June at 1:30 where we will explain how you can take part.

Choir:  Could all choir members please attend a meeting in the choir room at 1.30pm today (Friday).  This meeting is essential for all those who are wishing to perform at the awards ceremony.  If you cannot attend, please inform a choir leader.  Thank you.

P7 Pupils: If any of you play bagpipes or drums you are invited to take your instruments in on Thursday lunchtime and have a go at playing with the school pipe band.

Pipe band: All pupils please remember to take all instruments in with them on Thursday and to attend the P7 taster session at lunchtime.

Work to be collected from Technical Dept:  Can Mr Sande’s previous S3 class collect their finished bird tables  this afternoon please.

S4-6 Graphic Communication. Can pupils collect all work other than final folio by Friday 17th June.

Can Miss Woolley’s previous S2, N5 and Higher D&M Class please collect their folio and practical work before Friday 17th of June.

Student Council:  There will be a Student Council meeting today (15 June) at 13.30 in Mr Findlay’s PSE room.

Mock Trial:  Any S4-S6 pupils interested in taking part in this year’s Aberdeenshire Schools Mock Trial Competition (to be held Saturday 10th September) should attend a brief information session at 10.20am today in room D0-63.  Or see Mrs Williams for more information.  Thank you.

New library signing-in procedures for senior pupils:  Senior pupils who study in the library are now required to sign-in.  If you study in the library just come to the issue desk and library staff will talk you through this easy process.  Thank you.

Exams Friday: Last day of SQA exams. They will be held in the Theatre and Drama Studio 09:00-10:45. Pupils must be very quiet in this area particularly over break time. There are no displacements.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR CHANGE OF TIMETABLE ON TUESDAY 7 JUNE

At the start of period 1 on Tuesday (8.40am) all pupils, who will be going into S2, S3 and S4, should go directly to their MEL classroom.

For most pupils, the MEL room and teacher will be the same as last year. However please note the changes shown on the internal screens.

Your MEL teacher will meet you in your MEL room. You will be issued with your timetable and you will hear the daily bulletin.

At 9am your MEL teacher will send you to your period one class (on your new timetable). Period one will therefore run from 9am until 9.30am. The rest of the school day will run as normal, and as stated on your new timetable.

Your class teachers know that, on Tuesday, you may not have all of your subject related equipment with you. However, please ensure you bring all general classroom equipment, your planner and your PE kit, since it is likely that many of you will have PE at some point in the day.

Scotland Vs Iceland Trip: All those who are participating in today’s trip to watch Scotland Vs Iceland at the Falkirk Stadium, please go straight to PE at the start of period 6, do not go to your normal period 6 class. When you get there you must register with Mr McKinnie before getting yourself changed and ready to leave.

Scottish Schools Swimming Relay Championship: Could all those competing in this event please attend a meeting on Tuesday at 1.40pm at the Games Hall to collect consent forms.

Exams Wednesday: SQA exams are taking place in D0-63/64/65 and 67 from 13:00-15:30. Please be very quiet going to and from classes particularly in the D Block ground floor during exam times. Please note exams are ongoing over lunchtime.

Study Areas: Pupils may study in the Dining Area, Library, the tables outside SLT offices and any research areas away from exam rooms.

Scotland Vs Iceland Football Trip: Those who have received a consent form for Friday’s trip must return their forms to Mr McKinnie by breaktime today otherwise they will lose their place and it will be given to someone on the waiting list.

Global Running Day – Wed 1st of June: Global Running Day is a day for people around the world to celebrate the joys of running. Participation is easy—just pledge to take part in some type of running activity on June 1, 2016. It can be a solo lap around the block, a long run with friends, or even a game of tag with your kids. The key is to share your passion for the sport and inspire others to get moving. To help celebrate this day, we are encouraging as many pupils and staff as possible to take part in a “Lunchtime Lap” around the path at the back of the school with Mr McKinnie. You can get changed into PE kit or just wear your school uniform. If you would like to take part in the “Lunchtime Lap” please meet in the PE Dept at 1.30pm! Let’s get running!

DUKE OF EDINBURGH BRONZE PARTICIPANT MEETING:  There will be a short meeting for all DofE Bronze groups during morning break, Thursday in C1-34 (Miss Shepherd’s class).  Important information will be distributed.  Please be prompt.

Scotland Vs Iceland Trip: More spaces for this trip are now available; if you are interested and would like a consent form, please see Mr McKinnie as soon as possible. The remaining forms will be issued on a first come, first serve basis.

Come along to the library today to join in with the Lunch Hangout Group.  Play games, make jigsaws or just chill.

Library notice:  A reminder to pupils who borrowed mystery (wrapped) books during reading week – they are due back this week.

S5 and S6:  There is an opportunity for S5/6 pupils to do some volunteering.  There are 2 places available for anyone who wants to help referee football at the Tough Primary School tournament on Saturday 11 June.  See Mr McKinnie for more information.

Scotland Vs Iceland Football Trip: Mr McKinnie is looking to run a trip on Friday 3rd of June to watch Scotland Women’s team play against Iceland in a crucial European Championship qualifier at the Falkirk Stadium. Scotland currently has a 100% winning record in the group and they are on course to qualify for next year’s championship. The trip would leave from the school around 2.30pm and return around 1am. If you would be interested please come along to a short meeting at break time today in the Games Hall. This trip will only be viable if there are enough people who would like to go.   

Project Y Foundation Course – Aberdeen: YDance has an excellent week-long dance training and performance opportunity in Aberdeen this summer for young people aged 12 to 18. In this dance course participants get the chance to develop their choreographic ideas, work with a YDance choreographer and perform as part of the annual national tour – Project Y – when it visits Aberdeen in August 2016. Participants are provided with a costume and gain excellent experience of what it is like to work together to create a dance piece and perform on a professional stage.

S1-3 Junior Girls Football: A huge congratulations to the S1-3 Junior Girls Football team who played four seven a side matches against Aboyne Academy on Thursday and won all four with an aggregate score of 19-2! These were the first matches the girls have played together as a team since training began a couple of months ago.  Fantastic result! If there are any more girls who would like to join the club, please speak to Mr McKinnie.

Rock Wall Club: The next block of rock wall club will start on Tues 24 & Wed 25 May for a 3 week block.  If you would like a place please see Mr Cruickshank for a letter ASAP.  If you were on the reserve list a letter has been kept for you.

S4, S5 & S6 Pupils – Alford Job Club:  Are you in S4–S6 and leaving school this summer? Are you looking for an apprenticeship, work or training?  Do you want some help and advice with applications forms, college applications, CVs, interview skills, covering letters or information on full-time or part-time work? We also have information about current vacancies and apprenticeships.  Come along to Alford Campus Library on a Wednesday lunchtime between 1.00 – 2.00pm.  We hope to see you there.

Alford & Area Youth Forum:  Just a reminder that Youth Forum runs tonight after school from 3:40-5:00pm in Community rooms 1 & 2. This group gives you the chance to discuss issues that are important to you, to work as part of a team, help out at community events & plan fun activities/ trips for the summer holidays. You can also get Youth Achievement Awards by taking part. The group is free of charge and open to any S1-S6 pupils who are interested. For more information about Youth Forum, either pop along on a Tuesday after school for a consent form or speak to Kirsty at CLD.
