Girls Football: The following matches have been arranged.

Tues 26 Nov: Senior Girls Scottish Cup v Webster High (Home) 1pm kick off. Letter already issue. Consent form back by Mon 25 Nov.

Thurs 5 Dec: Senior Girls Aberdeenshire League v Mintlaw (Away) Leaving at 1.10pm. Pupils should collect a letter on Wed 27 Nov.

Wed 11th Dec: Junior Girls Aberdeenshire Cup Quarter Final v Mackie Ac (Away) Leaving at 2pm.

Pupils should collect a letter on Thursday 5/Friday 6 Dec.

Daily Bulletin – Monday 7 October

Active Schools information:

1.     Sport club consent forms:  Could all pupils attending netball, hockey and running clubs please ensure they have returned a completed consent form for these activities before the end of term. They can be collected from PE.

2.    Badminton:  A new badminton club is running in the games hall on Tuesday lunchtimes from 1.25pm. Players of all ages and abilities are welcome to attend.

3. Running Club:  The running club are always looking for new members to join them on their runs round the local area. The club meets on a Monday after school in PE. Please collect a consent form from PE to attend.

Girls football training:  There will be no training on Thursday 10 Oct.  Due to other circumstances training will change after the October holidays from the Thursday after school slot to a Friday lunchtime in the games hall.

Horizons Fortnight: I hope you have all enjoyed last week’s careers talks, we have had speakers from the Pharmaceutical and construction industry along with the NHS – Midwifery and nursing and Aberdeen Football Club.

This week we have the following speakers:

Monday 7th – Geotech engineer / Solicitors / GP – Mountain Rescue

Tuesday 8th – Paramedic

Wednesday 9th – Oil and Gas engineer

Thursday 10th – Helicopter pilot (12:30pm) / radiographer and breast screening.

All talks are at 1:30 in the library and all are welcome.

Daily Bulletin – Thursday 11 May

HPV Immunisation Catchup Session:  We will be holding an HPV Catch Up Session on Tuesday 6th June for any girls that missed the previous session.  You will receive an appointment slip in due course.

S1-3 Girls Football tournament: Active Schools are holding an S1-3 girls football tournament on Monday 22nd May, 4-6pm at school against Aboyne, Kemnay and The Gordons Schools.  If you would like to play please add your name to the signup sheet in PE.

Girls U15 Football Team:  We have a semi-final match against Ellon Academy on Thursday 18th May KO 3.30pm. Due to high numbers we have had to base the team selection on commitment to training and previous experience in this competition, therefore  the students listed in the paper bulletin should see Miss Kelman in the PE dept for a consent form.

Daily Bulletin – Thursday 8 December

Panto Trip 9.12.16: All pupils going to the Panto meet in the Drama Studio at 11.00am on Friday with their packed lunch.

S1, S2, S3 Girls Football: Girls Junior Football is on this Friday after school from 3-4pm.

Eliminators Hip Hop Dance: there will be a free trial session on Monday 12th December, 4-5pm in the Dance Studio.  If you attend S1/2 netball the trial session is from 5-6pm.  No previous dance experience required.  If you are interested, please collect a consent form from PE and return by Monday.  If you already attend an active schools group no consent form is required.  Please see Kerry Massie, Active Schools Co-ordinator for more information.

The Entertainment’s Committee are offering an extra day on Friday 9th to buy your Christmas Dance tickets.  This is the last chance to buy a ticket!!  Please bring your consent forms.

 

Daily Bulletin – Wednesday 24 August

Girls Football – Thursday Training Cancelled: Unfortunately due to a school trip and staff meeting the girls football training will be cancelled this Thursday (25/08/16). Training will resume as normal the following week. Apologies.

DAILY BULLETIN – Tuesday 24 May

We are trialling sharing a version of our daily bulletin here on the Blog and on the schools social media sites.  It would be really good over the coming weeks to get your feedback on this.

Exams Tuesday: SQA exams are taking place in the Theatre/Drama Studio all day and B1-20 from 09:00-12:05. Please be very quiet going to and from classes particularly to other classrooms in the B block and avoid these areas over break and lunchtime.

Study Areas: Pupils may study in the Dining Area, Library, the tables outside SLT offices and any research areas away from exam rooms.

Library notice:  A reminder to pupils who borrowed mystery (wrapped) books during reading week – they are due back this week.

S1-3 Junior Girls Football: A huge congratulations to the S1-3 Junior Girls Football team who played four seven a side matches against Aboyne Academy on Thursday and won all four with an aggregate score of 19-2! These were the first matches the girls have played together as a team since training began a couple of months ago.  Fantastic result! If there are any more girls who would like to join the club, please speak to Mr McKinnie.

Rock Wall Club: The next block of rock wall club will start on Tues 24 & Wed 25 May for a 3 week block.  If you would like a place please see Mr Cruickshank for a letter ASAP.  If you were on the reserve list a letter has been kept for you.

Scotland Vs Iceland Football Trip: Mr McKinnie is looking to run a trip on Friday 3rd of June to watch Scotland Women’s team play against Iceland in a crucial European Championship qualifier at the Falkirk Stadium. Scotland currently has a 100% winning record in the group and they are on course to qualify for next year’s championship. The trip would leave from the school around 2.30pm and return around 1am. If you would be interested please come along to a short meeting at break time today in the Games Hall. This trip will only be viable if there are enough people who would like to go.

S4, S5 & S6 Pupils – Alford Job Club:  Are you in S4–S6 and leaving school this summer? Are you looking for an apprenticeship, work or training?  Do you want some help and advice with applications forms, college applications, CVs, interview skills, covering letters or information on full-time or part-time work? We also have information about current vacancies and apprenticeships.  Come along to Alford Campus Library on a Wednesday lunchtime between 1.00 – 2.00pm.  We hope to see you there.

Alford & Area Youth Forum:  Just a reminder that Youth Forum runs tonight after school from 3:40-5:00pm in Community rooms 1 & 2. This group gives you the chance to discuss issues that are important to you, to work as part of a team, help out at community events & plan fun activities/ trips for the summer holidays. You can also get Youth Achievement Awards by taking part. The group is free of charge and open to any S1-S6 pupils who are interested. For more information about Youth Forum, either pop along on a Tuesday after school for a consent form or speak to Kirsty at CLD.                

Project Y Foundation Course – Aberdeen: YDance has an excellent week-long dance training and performance opportunity in Aberdeen this summer for young people aged 12 to 18. In this dance course participants get the chance to develop their choreographic ideas, work with a YDance choreographer and perform as part of the annual national tour – Project Y – when it visits Aberdeen in August 2016. Participants are provided with a costume and gain excellent experience of what it is like to work together to create a dance piece and perform on a professional stage.

S5 and S6:  There is an opportunity for S5/6 pupils to do some volunteering.  There are 2 places available for anyone who wants to help referee football at the Tough Primary School tournament on Saturday 11 June.  See Mr McKinnie for more information.
