Scottish Schools Golf Championships:  The annual Scottish Schools Golf Championships takes place on Monday 12th June at Murrayshall GC.  If you have a handicap of 5 or less and interested in being considered for the South Aberdeenshire School Team please pass your name and handicap details onto Mr Cruickshank before the end of day on Monday 15 May.

Study Areas: Pupils may study in the Dining Area, Library, the tables outside SLT offices and any research areas away from exam rooms.

Health and Wellbeing

Thursday 19 May:  Mindfulness meditation in the library conference room from 1.10 – 2.00pm.   Learn a new craft skill along with our community craft group or try out some of our puzzles, colouring etc.  S3s come and play Dodgeball in the sports hall from 1.20 – 1.50pm.

Friday 20th May:  Mindfulness meditation and mini Yoga in the Library Conference Room from 1.10 – 2.00pm.  Also puzzles, colouring, etc. in the library.

SASSA Golf Tournament:  This event will take place at Westhill Golf Course on Thursday 23rd June.  I would hope to send one team of 3 players to this event. If you wish to be considered please pass your name onto Mr Cruickshank ASAP.

Job opportunity:  Kitchen porter required at the Haughton Arms.  You must be aged 14 or over, hardworking and reliable.  For more information go to the Haughton, or call them on 019755 64219.

Duke of Edinburgh: Would the Lad Bible Team attend a meeting with Dr Conway today at 1.10pm in B1-22.

Exams Wednesday: SQA exams are taking place in Theatre/Drama Studio all day – including over break and lunchtime and the Science Rooms B1-20/21/22/23 P1-4 including over break. Please be very quiet going to and from classes particularly to other classrooms in the B Block and avoid exam areas over break and lunchtime.

Study Areas: Pupils may study in the Dining Area, Library, the tables outside SLT offices and any research areas away from exam rooms.

Wednesday 18 May:  Story time – come and listen to a story and chill out in the library.  Also mindfulness meditation in the library conference room, puzzles, colouring etc. from 1.10 – 2.00pm.  Those taking part in the library activities can bring their lunch.   S2s come and play Dodgeball in the sports hall from 1.20 – 1.50pm.

Alford & Area Youth Forum:  Just a reminder that Youth Forum runs tonight after school from 3:40-5:00pm in Community rooms 1 & 2. This group gives you the chance to discuss issues that are important to you, to work as part of a team, help out at community events & plan fun activities/ trips for the summer holidays. You can also get Youth Achievement Awards by taking part. The group is free of charge and open to any S1-S6 pupils who are interested. For more information about Youth Forum, either pop along on a Tuesday after school for a consent form or speak to Kirsty at CLD.

Exams Monday: SQA exams are taking place in rooms D1-44 and D1-45 Periods 1-5. Please be very quiet going to and from classes particularly to other classrooms in the top floor of the D Block. Please avoid this area at interval. There are also exams on in the music classroom A1-09 in the afternoon from P5-P7.

Displacements Monday: Please see the internal signs for details of displacements.

Link Day Helpers – Meeting today:  Could the S3 pupil helpers please see Mrs Holt in room C1-29 on Monday 16-05-16 at the start of lunch break.  This will be a slightly longer meeting than last week to finalise the arrangements of the P7 Link Day event on Thursday 19-05-16.   Dancers and musicians are also requested to attend.

Choir today (Monday):  Due to exams taking place today in the music department there will be no choir rehearsal at lunchtime.

Come along to the library today to join in with the Lunch Hangout Group.  Play games, make jigsaws or just chill.

We Will Rock You: Any pupils still interested in being in the We Will Rock You chorus please sign up as soon as possible outside Mrs Sharp’s room. Please note, this requires a lot of commitment and there will be a lot of rehearsals – please make sure you can attend these before signing up.

There may be some small speaking roles still available. Please let me know if you are interested in these.

Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expeditions:  All expedition team members MUST return their completed parental consent forms to Mrs McDonald as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT REMINDER – Kit inspection and distribution of equipment for Seal Team 6, Team Pickles and The Originals will take place Wednesday 18th May during lunchtime in D061.  You may leave your rucksacks with your Supervisors.

For anyone who has completed any Duke of Edinburgh programme in the last 3 years:

We are looking for photographs of your training or expeditions to include in this year’s Award ceremony at the end of term.  Please put photos on a memory stick and include the names of anyone in the photograph.  Please go along to Miss Shepherd anytime and she will make a copy for the presentation.  Thank you very much.

Parkour Trip: A big thank you to everyone who participated in last week’s Parkour Trip and apologies to those who missed out on a place! Could I please ask all those who took part to go and see Mr McKinnie as soon as possible to complete a survey on the trip. It would be great to run this trip again, but we require your feedback to let us know if you enjoyed it!

Exams Friday: SQA exams are taking place in the Music Practice Room A1-12 09:00-09:45 and 13:00-14:00 and the Music classroom A1-09 from 13:00-14:10. Please be quiet when passing this area and avoid at lunchtime. In addition there is an Aberdeenshire Head Teacher meeting in PSE rooms D0-68 and D0-69 all day and the Theatre from 10 am to 1 pm.

Health and Wellbeing: To support and promote health and wellbeing there will be a range of activities in the library and games hall every day next week.  These will range from mindfulness meditation, relaxing colouring sheets, craft, mini yoga, dodgeball, reading corner etc.  Keep up-to-date with what’s going on by reading the daily bulletin and looking out for notices around the school.
