Newsletter/BBC Report: For all students interested in writing or reporting there is a chance to submit articles or creative pieces to the Winter Newsletter.  Any submissions should be sent to iaapress@alfordacademy.aberdeenshire.sch.uk.  If you are interested in reporting or research there is also an opportunity to be involved in the BBC School Report.  The Group meets every Tuesday at 1.30pm in D144 (Mrs Rae’s room).

Children in Need: To continue our fundraising for Children in Need we will be hosting a Teacher Lip Sync Battle in the Theatre at 1.30pm on Fri 18th November.  We look forward to seeing you all there.

Netball friendly vs Kemnay Academy – Thursday 1st December: Please check paper bulletin for list of students that have been chosen to represent Alford Academy in a netball fixture at Kemnay Academy on Thursday 1st December. Could they please collect a consent form from Miss Kelman.

Young Musician – All pupils involved in the Young Musician of the Year competition must attend a short meeting today at 10.20pm in A1-08.

Alford Academy End of Term Newsletter: We are looking for contributions from pupils and staff for the end of term newsletter – the focus is on events, achievements and anything else that has been happening in the classroom or outwith via clubs, groups etc. Please note we would love to include some creative writing as well! Displacements Thursday:

S5/6 PE –there will be no PE for Mr Cruickshank’s class P1 Thursday 23 June. Please could the class report to D0-67 for study. All pupils must register in D0-67 at start of period.

All pupils: There are still a number of outstanding books to be returned to the English Faculty. Can these please be returned by this Friday 24 June so we can carry out our stocktake.

S3 GEOGRAPHY FIELDTRIP: Could Mrs McDonald’s Friday P3 class please go to D0-61 at the start of morning break.   Please be prompt.  Thank you.

Royal Highland Show: A quick meeting will be held at 10:20am in B1-22 (Dr Conway’s Room) today.  Final arrangements for tomorrow’s trip will be given.  All should attend.

House and Vice-House Captains – Could you all attend a short meeting this Friday (24th June) at 1.40pm in the PE research area.  Remember to bring house sign-up sheets.

Alford Academy End of Term Newsletter: We are looking for contributions from pupils and staff for the end of term newsletter – the focus is on events, achievements and anything else that has been happening in the classroom or outwith via clubs, groups etc. Please note we would love to include some creative writing as well! Senior Boys Football:  Can the senior boys please remember that training is on a Friday afternoon from 1.20-1.50pm. We will be outside if the weather is fine, but always bring indoor/outdoor footwear. Attendance is essential to make sure we have the numbers to make the team viable for the coming season. Commitment is key.

All pupils – Lockers:  In preparation for the end of term all pupil lockers must be emptied of all personal items and personalisation by the end of this week.  Locker combinations should be reset to 0000 once empty.  We would ask pupils not to change combinations for any locker which was not assigned to them.  This will help us in preparing lockers for your use next session.  We reserve the right to dispose of anything left in lockers after Friday’s deadline has passed.

Prefect Meeting during MEL today:  All prefects and house captains must attend a meeting with Mrs Milne in the theatre today at 11.40 am (during P3 MEL). Please register first with your MEL teacher, before going to the theatre.

Awards Ceremony Walk-Through & Briefing, Today (Tues)  P6 onwards:  All pupils receiving an award or prize at the Awards Ceremony must first register in their normal period 6 class, and then report to the Sports Hall for the walk-through. Take bags/jackets with you, since this will last through into P7.

Digital Leaders:   A new opportunity is available for any S1-6 Pupil wishing to take on a leadership and responsibility role within the school.  Aberdeenshire has a program called Digital Leaders for all pupils wishing to play an active part in looking after the school’s technology and digital technology. Entering into the digital leader programme will count towards your digital leader certificates. If you wish to become a digital leader, please attend a meeting in C1-29 on Wednesday 22 June at 1:30 where we will explain how you can take part.
