Daily Bulletin – Monday 2 March

Clubs at Alford Academy: Alford Academy has a wide variety of clubs ranging from football to songwriting, there is something for everyone. Please take a look at the list on the pupil area of our website https://alfordacademy.aberdeenshire.sch.uk/activities/ and see if anything interests you. It is really important that you take all the opportunities presented to you at school so that you enjoy yourself and reach your full potential. Feel free to try as many clubs as you wish, but some require consent forms so make sure you fill them out if required. Thank you. The Student Council

Can any S4/5 pupils who are interested in taking part in the John Stuart Mill Cup please come to a meeting at 1.30pm on Thursday 5th March in D0-64. The John Stuart Mill Cup features teams of pupils from across the country facing off against each other discussing ethical issues of public concern. This is an initial meeting for pupils to find out more. You can bring your lunch.

Musical Theatre: Apologies to those involved but there will be no Musical Theatre rehearsal after school on Tuesday this week.

Numeracy Ambassadors: There will be a meeting for Numeracy Ambassadors on Tuesday 3rd March at 1.20 in C1-37.  This is open to all year groups, and you don’t need to have been to the first meeting to come along.  Bring your lunch with you.

Daily Bulletin – Tuesday 4 February

Childrens’ Mental Health Awareness Week

Life often throws challenges our way and 1 in 5 young people experience a mental illness.

Bravery is about:

Finding positive ways to deal with things that might be difficult

Overcoming physical and mental challenges

Looking after yourself.

Look at the positive quotes that are displayed on the plasma screens today and remember

‘when you can’t control what is happening, challenge yourself to control the way you respond to what’s happening.’

All pupils – Numeracy Ambassadors:  We are looking to recruit a group of pupils to act as Numeracy Ambassadors around the school.  This will involve meeting once a week to plan and carry out activities to help pupils across the school develop their numeracy skills. It is open to any year group, and it does not matter which maths class you are in – anyone and everyone can get involved.  If you want to find out more, come to a meeting in Mrs Mathewson’s maths classroom (C1-37) today, Tuesday 4th February at 1.30 to find out more.
