‘Share the Air’ and 1:1s with parents – You said… we’re doing…

Thanks to all parents who have come along to my informal conversations this term.  Great discussions and feedback.

A key theme coming through these conversations and the feedback from Parents’ Evening surveys is ‘How can we better acknowledge and share the work of the Parent Council’.

What we are doing?  … improving access to information about the Parent Council and their priorities.  Information can be accessed on the  website and school blog  and we will also  trial e-mailing Parent Council information directly to parents/carers.

Watch this space.. more to come in the future, we are actively working together with parents on this.

Next Parent Council Meeting is on Monday 23 March 2020  at 7pm (please note change of date).  All welcome.

Kilt Hire Discount

The Parent Council has once again negotiated a 20% discount off Kilt Hire for the pupils of Alford Academy, for their Christmas parties from

McCalls Ltd
15-17 Bridge Street
Aberdeen,
AB11 6JL

The discount only applies to the hire garments, not shirt, kilt socks and cufflinks, if required, as these items are purchased on top of the hire outfit and are kept by the customer at the end of the hire period.

When a School pupil comes into the store to be measured, they should mention that the hire is for the Alford Academy Christmas function and the 20% discount will be applied to the hire.

Please note that there is no expectation that pupils wear a kilt for any of the Christmas celebrations, and that kilt outfits can be hired from other companies.

Day zero.  Show my homework has arrived.

We are delighted to announce that in partnership with Alford Academy Parent Council we are now a Show My Homework school.  We would encourage parents to look out for the letters being issued to all pupils tomorrow which will tell you more about this fantastic online tool as well as information about the Sponsored walk, and other key bits of information relevant to the start of term.  We will post copies of all the information tomorrow must in case the envelope doesn’t make it home in one piece.  If you can’t wait for the letter, you can always take a sneak peak using the SMHW (Show My HomeWork) menu on the schools blog, or go directly using this link https://alfordacademy.showmyhomework.co.uk

More information to follow in the next few weeks.
