Senior Boys Football: The home match scheduled for Thursday against Ellon Academy has been called off.  Our next game is at home to Mearns on Thursday 19th March.

Assessment Arrangements S4-6: All Alternative assessment arrangement letters have been issued.  If you have not received a letter and think you should have one please discuss with Miss Murray in E1 50 by Friday 13th.

All letters to be signed by the pupil and parent and returned to school by Friday 13th March.

Daily Bulletin – Monday 24 February

Senior Boys Football Team:  We have an away league fixture against Mintlaw on Wednesday 4th March. Please pick up a consent form from Mrs Rae’s room (D1-44) if you are interested in playing.  We also have 3 home fixtures in the following weeks of March vs Mearns, Ellon and Fraserburgh.

RGC & Albyn Cross-Country Championships: This event takes place on Friday 13 March at Balgownie playing fields in Aberdeen.  We have some pupils who have already signed up for the championship but we need more so that we can enter teams for each year group.If interested please sign up before Wed 26 Feb as all entries need to be registered by Fri 28 Feb.

Christmas Song Raffle: A Christmas Song Raffle will be happening this week and next.  Vote for your song to be played over the tannoy on the last week of term.  The songs are – Last Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, Jinglebell Rock, Most Wonderful Time of the Year, All I Want for Christmas is You, Underneath the Christmas Tree, I Wish it could be Christmas Every Day, Mistletoe, Feliz Navidad, Do they Know it’s Christmas, Santa Clause is Coming to Town, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Merry Christmas Everyone.

Senior Boys Football: Please attend a meeting at break time today in Mrs Rae’s room regarding the 3rd round Scottish Shield fixture vs Grove Academy.

Election 2019! We are holding a school election on Thursday 12th December to coincide with the General election taking place that day.  All pupils are invited to come along and make a vote for their preferred party.  Voting will be open morning break and lunch in D-69.  Who do you want to win?  Let’s see if our votes reflect the nation.  Have your say!

Interhouse Leadership Team Meeting: All pupils with a House Leadership role should attend a meeting today at 13.30pm in D069.  This includes House Captains, Vice Captains and Class Captains.  During this meeting there will be a “House Leaders” competition with house points up for grabs.

Senior Boys Football: We have been drawn against Peterhead Academy in the North of Scotland Cup, the fixture will take place in Peterhead on Thursday 5th December, please collect a consent form for the match from Mrs Rae’s room (D1-44) as soon as possible if you wish to be selected for the match.

Daily Bulletin – Wednesday 18 September

Mock Trials:  All witnesses and advocates should attend tomorrow’s meeting (Wednesday 18th) in room D-62 at 1.20pm sharp. Please bring lunch with you.  An after school session will be held on the next 3 Thursdays 3-4pm.  Please collect a consent form from Mrs Gillan, all should try and attend.  If any pupil in S4-6 is interested in participating, we still have a couple of witness roles available so please come see Mrs Williams, Mrs Gillan or Mrs Henderson-Young for more information.

Non Walker Timetables: Any pupil that didn’t get their non-walker timetable in their SDA class on Tuesday please collect it from reception today.

Senior Boys Football v Inverurie Academy: Our next league match is away to Inverurie next Tues 24th September.  Please collect a letter from D144 (Mrs Rae’s room) as soon as possible.

Alford Academy’s ‘Young Musician of the Year’ competition takes place on Thursday 21st November at 7.00pm in the school’s theatre. The competition is organised by Alford Academy Interact Club and is sponsored by the Alford Rotary. The competition is in its 11th year and continues to provide a fantastic opportunity for pupils to showcase their musical talents, building on their experiences of performing in front of an audience.

The competition is open to pupils in the following categories:

Junior Young Musician of the Year (Open to S1-S3 pupils)

Senior Young Musician of the Year (Open to S4-S6 pupils)

As well as winners of both Junior and Senior categories, the judges will announce an overall winner on the night.

Entrants must prepare a piece to perform to showcase their talent lasting no longer than 5 minutes.

Please collect a form from Mrs Rees-Jenkins in B1-23 (Science) to enter! Hand in your entry form + a copy of your chosen piece to Mrs Rees-Jenkins by Friday 4th October  2019.

Career Interviews: Wednesday 17th August

Senior Boys Football Training: Training is on this Friday at lunchtime from 1.20-1.50pm. Please be there for an early start. Indoor and outdoor footwear dependent on weather.

Senior Boys Football Meeting: Can all boys involved with the senior boys team please attend a meeting on Thursday 18th August at 10.30am in room DO-69 (Mr McEwan’s PSE room). This is to issue out consent forms for the season.

Drama Club S1-S3: Drama club will start up next week, Thursday 25th August. It is open to all S1-S3 pupils, please get a consent form from Mrs.McQuaker. The club will run from 2:50 – 4:00 every Thursday in the Drama Studio.

Alford Academy End of Term Newsletter: We are looking for contributions from pupils and staff for the end of term newsletter – the focus is on events, achievements and anything else that has been happening in the classroom or outwith via clubs, groups etc. Please note we would love to include some creative writing as well! House Captains:  Can all House and Vice captains please meet in Mr Findlay’s PSE room at 1.30pm tomorrow (Tuesday).  Many thanks.

All pupils – Lockers:  In preparation for the end of term all pupil lockers must be emptied of all personal items and personalisation by the end of this week.  Locker combinations should be reset to 0000 once empty.  We would ask pupils not to change combinations for any locker which was not assigned to them.  This will help us in preparing lockers for your use next session.  We reserve the right to dispose of anything left in lockers after Friday’s deadline has passed.

Gold Duke of Edinburgh:  There will be an important meeting for all Gold participants on Tuesday at lunchtime in Room D0-61.  You are welcome to bring your own lunch.  Please be prompt.

Senior Boys Football:  Can the senior boys please remember that training is on a Friday afternoon from 1.20-1.50pm. We will be outside if the weather is fine, but always bring indoor/outdoor footwear. Attendance is essential to make sure we have the numbers to make the team viable for the coming season. Commitment is key.

Digital Leaders:   A new opportunity is available for any S1-6 Pupil wishing to take on a leadership and responsibility role within the school.  Aberdeenshire has a program called Digital Leaders for all pupils wishing to play an active part in looking after the school’s technology and digital technology. Entering into the digital leader programme will count towards your digital leader certificates. If you wish to become a digital leader, please attend a meeting in C1-29 on Wednesday 22 June at 1:30 where we will explain how you can take part.
