Sponsored Walk Fundraising Update: Congratulations to all pupils that have donated – over £1000 was collected last week. Can we double that for this week? Thinking about course choices (school or university/college) or your future career? Come along to the Alford Academy Careers Evening on Tuesday 4 October from 6-8 pm where you can meet people from business, college and university who can help you plan for your future.

Duke of Edinburgh – new Bronze group:  Any S3 pupil who wishes to participate in the Bronze DofE Award at Alford Academy this session must attend a short meeting today Monday 26th September (Room C134) starting promptly at 1.15pm.                      

S2/3 – U15s Football:  Training this week will be on Wednesday at lunch time at PE.

Young Engineers is cancelled this week.  We hope to be back next Tuesday 4th .

Piano Recital Evening – Tickets for the Piano Recital Evening priced £3 will be on sale from 1.45 – 1.55 outside the pupil entrance each day next week.  The concert takes place at 7pm on Monday 3rd October.

BBC School News Report 2017:   We are looking for enthusiastic pupils to take part in the school report next year.  This is a national event run by the BBC, which involves young people researching, creating and presenting news reports, which are to be aired on 16th March 2017.  Participation can offer many rewards, from insights to the various careers surrounding reporting, to volunteering opportunities for those looking for a mentor role and it is an excellent addition to any UCAS application.  Further information can be found by visiting BBC school report website.  If interested, please attend a short meeting in room D1-44 on Wednesday 28th September at 1.30pm.


Daily Bulletin – Thursday 15 September

IMPORTANT: Aberdeen Sports Village Competition – Would all pupils, both competitors and senior pupil helpers going to the Sports Village, to be held next Tuesday 20th September, please attend a final meeting on Monday 19th September at 1.30pm in the Sports Hall. If you can’t make this meeting, you must see Miss Macfarlane by the end of this week. Final details will be issued at the meeting. A reminder to pupils: the deadline for consent forms and payment to Mr Cruickshank is TODAY, Thursday 15th September. Any pupil who hasn’t handed these in by today, must see Mr Cruickshank TODAY, or he or she may lose their place.

Girls Football Training – S1-3 Girls Football training is now on Fridays from 3-4.30pm NOT a Thursday.

U15s Girls Football Team away to Meldrum Academy – Wednesday 21st September:  Could all girls who are in the U15 Football team please collect a consent form from Miss Kelman in the PE Dept as soon as possible.

Library notice: Please can ALL pupils remember to bring their Young Scot cards with them when they visit the library as this card is also their library card. Staff need to see the Young Scot card before giving pupils their PIN code for the library WIFI access.

S5/6 – UCAS lunchtime drop in support sessions will run every Monday in D0-68 starting at lunchtime today for additional help and support with the university application process. Feel free to bring your lunch.

S2/3 U15 boys football – Training tomorrow (Tuesday) lunchtime in the PE department. Please bring indoor and outdoor footwear.

S2-3 Boys U15s Football: Training today at lunchtime for all players.

Astro Pitch:  Pupils will need to stay off the Astro pitch on Tuesday 6th Sept. This is because there will be maintenance work and line painting happening all day.  Access to the pitch will be available again on Wed 7th Sept.  Thank you.                             

Performing Arts Committee: Calling new and existing members (S4-S6).  Please come to a meeting at 1:30pm today in the drama studio if you would like to be part of a vibrant performing arts team.  We help to organise music and drama activities throughout the year.

All pupils:  Running Club will NOT be starting this Tuesday due to a staff meeting but it will start next Tuesday, 13th September.

Sponsored Walk Consent Forms: Please remember to post your completed consent form in the pupil drop box today. If you have lost your form and need a copy, please get one from blue tray outside SLT offices, take it home for signature and return it to the pupil drop box first thing Monday morning. All pupils need consent to go out on the walk. Any pupils who do not have consent will be in school studying on sponsored walk day

S2-3 Boys U15s Football:  All players should attend training on Monday lunchtime next week. Please note change of day due to astro being closed next Tuesday. Please bring indoor and outdoor footwear.

Piano players: All pupils who play the piano, please attend a very short meeting on Monday at 10.20am in A-1-08. (Please attend even if you do not receive school lessons.)

Bronze Duke of Edinburgh: There will be a meeting for the second 3 Bronze Groups (out on their qualifying expedition on 11th/12th September) on Friday morning break in D061.  This includes the teams Team Pickles, Not Lost Yet and Lad Team 7.  Important information will be distributed at this meeting.  It is vital that ALL team members attend.

Daily Bulletin – Monday 22 August

Circuit Training:  Circuit training will start up again this Wednesday from 4-5.30pm in the games hall.  New members are very welcome but they must remember to fill out and hand in a consent form before attending.  (Consent forms can be collected from PE).

S2-3 Boys football (U15s): There will be a brief meeting today at 10.25 sharp in D0-68 to give information on training for this seasons U15s.  All those who came along before the holidays should attend and any new players are welcome.

S6:  If you are interested in being a buddy for paired reading or supporting classes in E1-50 come along to a meeting in E1-50 at 1.30pm today.  Volunteering in this capacity is beneficial if you are considering teaching, working in a nursery or any type of work with young people.

Music Department/Bands updates: 

Could all string players (including Scots fiddlers) please attend a brief meeting today at 10.35am (during morning break) in A1-08 (Music 1).

Most music department extra-curricular groups resume this week and it would be great to see lots of new faces!

H.O.T. (Homework Opportunity Time) will take place (S4-S6 Drama pupils) every Tuesday from 1:10-2:00pm. This is a chance to have further support with your homework assignments.

Scripture Union:  Resumes this Wednesday at 1.30pm in A1-08.  All welcome to come along and find out what SU is all about.

Digital Leaders:  Any pupil wanting to take on new roles in the school and also gain experience for the workplace should come along and pick up an information sheet about becoming a Digital Leader from computing.  The Digital Leaders programme will help you earn your SQA Leadership award and also counts towards Saltire Awards.  Come along to computing at lunchtime next Tuesday (30th August) for a meeting and more information.

Scottish Saltires Biathlon Swim/Run Event:  This event takes place on Sunday 2nd Oct at the Aberdeen Sports Village.  It is open to pupils and staff. Anyone interested in this event can get further details at the PE Dept.  Closing date is 19th Sept or earlier if full.
