Alford Golf Club are valued partners of Alford Academy and our pupils are increasingly working with the club throughout our curriculum.

Our S3 Business pupils are bringing learning outcomes to life with students working on the clubs advertising and marketing to improve their social media presence and office handling.

Our Hospitality Foundation Apprenticeship students have been working in the kitchen and front of house to develop their hospitality/teamwork and communication skills which has been very successful.

 

ALFORD GOLF CLUB

The Golf Club would like to invite all non golfing members to an introduction to golf taster session on Saturday 13th May.
Come along to this free event to learn the basics of golf with our coaches. Then into the clubhouse for a refreshment afterwards.

Young junior (12 and under) 11.00 – 12.00
Adults 13.00 – 14.30

S5 Pupils: The Student Executive 2023-24 Application Process is now open. We are looking for applications from current S5 pupils for Head and Depute Prefect for next session. Details of how to apply can be found on our school blog Leadership Opportunities 2023-2024 – Alford Academy (edublogs.org)  and have also been emailed to S5 pupils. The closing date for applications is Friday 28 April and interviews will take place week commencing 29 May.

S3 Pupils: The application process for S3 Monitors is now open. Monitors, like prefects, are ambassadors for the school at all times, ‘living’ and promoting our school values and promoting the well-being of all young people in our school. Responsibilities include working alongside staff in supporting and promoting the life and work of the school, particularly during the senior pupils’ study leave period starting this month. If you are interested please complete an application form by end of day Friday 21 April – application forms can be found on our school blog Leadership Opportunities 2023-2024 – Alford Academy (edublogs.org) and have also been emailed to S3 pupils (or you can collect a blank form from outside Miss McIver’s office at SLT offices).

Today we undertook session two of the peer coaching programme. We focused on identifying questions that we could use in our coaching conversations and played ‘coaching pong’, working together to suggest improvements to the questions we had devised.

We completed our wellbeing wheel and then used our coaching skills of listening, summarisation and reflection to support each other to identify ways to coach a peer. It provided us with the opportunity to practice our coaching questions in a ‘real life’ scenario.

We are looking forward to participating in our final session on Monday 21st November.
