Parent Council Fundraising

Parent Council Fundraising

Hello All. The Co-op are supporting the Parent Council’s fundraising efforts to provide outdoor learning facilities at the school.  If you are a Co-op member you can nominate our fundraising as your chosen cause and a small percentage of your spend in store will be donated by the Co-op over the next year.  It all adds up!  If you aren’t a member of the Co-op, please consider it, as it is an easy and cheap way to support us.  You can join in store, or follow the link https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/59492

 Thanks, Alford Parent Council

Farewell from Mrs Milne

Farewell from Mrs Milne

We’ve made it!  Thanks to everyone for working so well together during this challenging year. My final farewell now….

I am now retiring and leave with many happy memories and that’s down to this amazing school community, our pupils, staff, parents and all our business partners and local organisations.  I am very proud of all we have achieved together.  Thank you!

lt has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to be Head Teacher of Alford Academy.  Sincere thanks to everyone for the amazing send off.

Now time to relax and have a great holiday.  Warmest wishes for the future.

Moira Milne, Head Teacher (retiring ☺)

There’s been a murder in Alford!

There’s been a murder in Alford!

During term 2, S2 pupil Cody was working on creating a murder mystery treasure hunt around Alford as part of his skills for learning class, which was focussing on the community. The treasure hunt takes you around Alford, starting and finishing at the Community Campus.  Along the way you must solve the clues to eliminate the suspects and potential murder weapons, while at the same time exploring Alford and finding out all about it. Due to lockdown Cody was unable to finish it after Christmas but since we have returned to school he has been able to complete the work and test it out.  Cody said “I put a lot of work into this project.  It was fun and I liked going round Alford best.”  Cody has shared his Murder Mystery Treasure Hunt with other pupils in school so they could try it out too.  One pupil who has completed the treasure hunt and solved the mystery said “it was very good, it was amazing!”
